Henry Chung, born Chung WuShiong (Chinese: 鍾武雄; pinyin: Zhōng Wǔxióng; Wade–Giles: Chung Wu-hsiung; September 9, 1918 – April 23, 2017) [1] [2] was a Chinese diplomat who served in the Nationalist government of China and later started a well known Hunan restaurant in San Francisco.
The Hunan Provincial People's Government was founded in August 1949, at that time it bore the name Hunan Provincial Temporary Government (湖南省临时政府) and would later become Hunan Provincial Military and Political Commission (湖南省军政委员会) in the same month.
Hunan is located on the south bank of the Yangtze River, about halfway along its length, situated between 108° 47'–114° 16' east longitude and 24° 37'–30° 08' north latitude. Hunan covers an area of 211,800 square kilometres (81,800 square miles), making it the 10th largest provincial-level division.
The Hunan Provincial Government proposed the construction of a new airport in October 1984, which was approved by the State Council of China. Construction for Huanghua Airport began in June 1986, and it was opened on 29 August 1989, when all civil flights were transferred to the new airport, and Datuopu reverted to sole military use.
