Kaiba's storyline features Seto Kaiba and his brother Mokuba Kaiba, who are also trapped in the game. Initially they work for Emperor Haysheen, but Marthis, Kaiba's 'helper', hears Kaiba talking to Pegasus and suspects that Kaiba is a spy for the resistance. Marthis turns Kaiba in to the Emperor, who sentences him to a public execution.

His name in the English version is derived from the family name of Joey Wheeler, whom Seto Kaiba titled a "dueling monkey," during the second series Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. His name in the Japanese version is pronounced " saru ," which is the Japanese word for "monkey".
Seto Kaiba then arrives in the Game Store, and offers a large amount of trading cards for Sugoroku's Blue-Eyes White Dragon, which he refuses. Kaiba then tricks Yugi into giving him the Blue-Eyes when he brings it to school. Yami then challenges him to a Shadow Game where the monsters in the game come to life.

After he steals the rare Blue-Eyes White Dragon card from Yugi's grandfather, Yami Yugi challenges Kaiba to a duel where the monsters from the cards are real.
