Marian later gives birth to a son named Roland, though she ends up wanted by the Evil Queen and is sentenced to death. Years later, after Zelena opens a time-travel portal, Emma and Hook are dragged into it and sent to the Enchanted Forest of the past. Emma decides to rescue Marian, but she is later killed by Zelena.
Hook passes her a note stating that it's an address where she will find her answers. After Hook leaves, Walsh proposes to Emma who is shocked and says she needs time to think. The next morning, Emma hands Henry a permission slip for a field trip and finds Hook’s note which contains an address: Neal's former apartment.
Emma fights Gideon, still under Fiona's lasting control, but ultimately chooses to sacrifice herself. Henry brings her back with True Love's Kiss and Gideon turns back into a baby, allowing Rumple and Belle a second chance. Emma and Regina are shown to drop Henry off at his bus stop, and Emma later makes Hook deputy sheriff.
All of a sudden Hook shows up as Emma tells Regina about his return. Realizing that Gold is behind it, everyone traces the disturbance to the tower; Emma and Regina figure out that Gold couldn't wake Belle with True Love's kiss since she doesn't love him anymore, so he stole Storybrooke's magic as part of a plan to wake her.
Emma decides to stay for a couple more minutes, and notices a resurrected Hook, who was brought back by Zeus as a reward for helping to defeat Hades, and the two are happily reunited. Meanwhile, Mr. Gold enters Regina's office, and it is revealed that a piece of the Crystal remains, which Mr. Gold collects for a new plan.

This time around Hook warns Emma that her family is in trouble, but she has no idea who Hook is or what he is talking about. Hook, believing that "true love's kiss" will bring her memories back, attempts to kiss Emma, but the shock results in Emma kicking Hook, pushing him away, and violently slamming the door in his face.
Emma then takes her in for questioning at the station, where, as expected, Ingrid is using the arrest to play mind games with her foster daughter. As David, Hook, Belle, and Elsa look at the mirror, Belle notices that the mirror is a fake, prompting David and Hook to warn Emma, and to get Gold to help them.
