Stratosphere is the debut studio album by American slowcore band Duster.The album was released February 24, 1998, on the Up Records label in the United States.. Duster is an American indie rock band, formed in San Jose, California in 1996. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] For most of its history, the group consisted of multi-instrumentalists Clay Parton and Canaan Dove Amber alongside drummer Jason Albertini before Albertini left the band in 2022.
In 1998, the band released their debut album under the Duster name, Stratosphere, along with the Apex, Trance-Like EP released by Skylab Records and the final Valium Aggelein release, Hier kommit der schwartze Mond. 1999 saw the release of the 1975 EP. In 2000, they released their second album Contemporary Movement.

[5] [6] It was their last album before the band's hiatus later that year. [4] Unlike Duster's previous album Stratosphere, all three band members were involved in the making of Contemporary Movement.
Some of the label's best-known artists were Duster, 764-HERO, Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, Quasi and Tad. Chris Takino died of leukemia in 2000.
