Michelin (/ ˈ m ɪ ʃ É™l ɪ n, ˈ m ɪ tʃ É™l ɪ n / MISH-É™l-in, MITCH-É™l-in, French:), in full Compagnie Générale des Établissements Michelin SCA ("General Company of the Michelin Enterprises P.L.S."), is a French multinational tyre manufacturing company based in Clermont-Ferrand in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes région of France.
The company came into existence when the tyre plant OZOS „Stomil”, founded in 1967, was privatized in 1992. In 1995, Michelin acquired the majority share in Stomil. [2] From 1995 to May 28, 2004, Stomil was quoted at the Warsaw Stock Exchange. In 2005, Michelin gained full control of Stomil and renamed it to 'Michelin Polska S.A.'. [1]
ATS Euromaster Ltd. is the British affiliate of the European tyre service provider Euromaster, which is a subsidiary of the tyre manufacturer Michelin. ATS Euromaster was established in 1965, and has a network of service centres throughout the United Kingdom.
In 1959, the Automotive tyre factory was founded. In 2007, the French company Michelin became a major shareholder of the company. [2] In February 2008, Michelin bought the remaining shares of Tigar Tyres for $47 million. With this acquisition, Michelin would become 100 percent owner of the company by 2010. [3]
In this respect, Michelin House is a building twenty years before its time and is also the first of the highly decorated buildings 'built on tyres', as Michelin House was built before Fort Dunlop (1916) and the Firestone Building (1928–1980). Michelin House has been listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England since April 1969. [2]
