Ratner's was founded in 1905 by Jacob Harmatz and his brother-in-law Alex Ratner, who supposedly flipped a coin to decide whose name would be on the sign. [1] Ratner sold his share in the restaurant to Harmatz in 1918, and it remained in the Harmatz family from then on.

In March 1890, The New York Times announced that the old Delmonico's Building had been demolished and that a new structure would be erected on the site. [5] Delmonico laid the cornerstone for the new building on July 10, 1890. [18] [11] The new restaurant opened on July 7, 1891, almost exactly one year after the official groundbreaking.
Sherry's was a restaurant in New York City. It was established by Louis Sherry in 1880 at 38th Street and Sixth Avenue. In the 1890s, it moved to West 37th Street, near Fifth Avenue. [1] By 1898 it had moved to the corner of 44th Street and Fifth Avenue, before moving to the Hotel New Netherland on the corner of 59th Street in 1919.

It was founded as a gentlemen's club in March 1891 by a group of wealthy New Yorkers led by the financier John Pierpont Morgan. The clubhouse at Fifth Avenue and 60th Street was designed by McKim, Mead & White and is a New York City designated landmark. The club is controlled by a 25-member board of governors.
Other original furnishings include large beveled mirrors, antique cash registers, wooden booths, and New York's oldest dumbwaiter that ferries food orders from the upstairs kitchen down to the bar. Another notable feature is the row of old floor-length [ 6 ] [ 7 ] 1910 [ 4 ] Hinsdale [ 8 ] [ 9 ] urinals in the first floor Men's room. [ 10 ]
