With the renovation and addition of many sections of the newly named Botanical Gardens, the stage was set for a surge in development that continues today. In 1987 a new holiday event created by the Garden called Celebration in the Oaks (Originally Christmas in the Oaks) was a tremendous financial boost to the Botanical Garden and City Park.
