The Hyatt Regency Atlanta is a business hotel located on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. Opened in 1967 as the Regency Hyatt House , John C. Portman Jr. 's revolutionary 22-story atrium design for the hotel has influenced hotel design enormously in the years since. [ 4 ]
The Briarcliff Hotel, now the Briarcliff Summit, is located at 1050 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE (original address: 750 Ponce de Leon Ave.) in the Virginia Highland neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. Asa G. Candler, Jr. , the eccentric son of Coca-Cola magnate Asa Candler Sr., owned the real estate firm that built the Briarcliff in 1924.

In February 1997, Hyatt Corporation purchased the hotel and renamed it the Grand Hyatt Atlanta. [3] There were already two Hyatt hotels in the Atlanta area at that time, the Hyatt Regency Atlanta and Hyatt Regency Suites Perimeter Northwest. Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead has 439 guest rooms and 20 luxury suites.
The hotel was also notable for its Peachtree Ballroom, which was the largest in Atlanta when it opened, seating 3,500 people. The hotel had been owned by Host Hotels & Resorts since 1998, but it was sold to Bill Gates' Cascade Investment in 2013. [4] [5] The hotel is operated by Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. The 7,790 square feet (724 m 2) spa was opened in 2007. [2] Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta has been receiving the AAA Five Diamond Award since 1999.
