San Antonio International Airport (IATA: SAT, ICAO: KSAT, FAA LID: SAT) is an international airport in San Antonio, Texas, United States. It is in Uptown Central San Antonio, about 8 miles (13 km) north of Downtown. It has three runways and covers 2,305 acres (933 ha). [1] [3] Its elevation is 809 feet (247 m) above sea level.
As the Supercenter proved to be a much more profitable experiment, Walmart renamed the stores "Wal-Mart's Hypermart USA" in April 1990, and eventually began either converting them to Supercenter operations or closing them. As of 2023, two of the former Hypermart USA locations still operate as Walmarts while the other two have been demolished.
Its reach expanded further when the grocer entered the Austin, Texas, market in 1972. [5] Tom Thumb partnered with Wal-Mart in 1987 to create several Hypermart USA in Garland, Texas, and Arlington, Texas. Hypermart USA stores were the early, smaller prototype for the current Walmart Supercenter concept.
