The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team competes in the Big West Conference and plays at Titan Gym. The team began play during the 1969–70 season under head coach, Billie Moore . The CSUF Titans football team traces its roots to 1969 when in May, former USC assistant coach Dick Coury was hired as the program's first head coach. [2] The team would win their inaugural game against Cal Poly Pomona by a score of 31–0 on September 19, 1970, and play to a 0–0 tie in their inaugural home game against Cal Lutheran at Anaheim Stadium. The Titans have claimed one national championship, in 1986, along with a runner-up finish in 1983, as part of six total appearances in the NCAA Women's College World Series. Cal State Fullerton also appeared in two Women's College World Series when the event was sponsored by the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women .
