The Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) are a list of 40 academic institutions funded either by the Government of India or the State governments of India that participate in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for the admission process into their undergraduate programs in architecture, planning, sciences, and various branches of engineering and technology.
The admission used to be highly selective. Students topping the respective state's 12th board exam could be admitted at the REC of their state. Thus, 17 RECs were established from 1959 onwards in each of the major states. Each college was a joint and cooperative enterprise of the central government and the concerned state government.

University Institute of Technology RGPV, popularly known as UIT RGPV or UIT RGTU, is a technical institute located at Bhopal, India.The institute was established by the government of Madhya Pradesh with the name "Government Engineering College" (GEC) as an autonomous institute in the year 1986.
