There are many exceptions (especially by indie artists, like on this sub), but secular music often is able to send more ideas across.

A lot of the music played today is about sex, women, drinking, fornication, drugs, alcohol etc. Ask God for discernment, but also understand that not all secular music is bad. I may listen to a song here or there, but my Spirit is bothered when I turn on the radio and it is playing pop music that is not honoring to God.

Secular music in and of itself is fine. You've probably sung it before in approved settings. "Happy Birthday" is secular. "The Star Spangled Banner" is secular. But of course, there is also secular music out there which celebrates sin, and which blasphemes God, and which is hateful to Christianity. I'm not saying you should listen to that.
