It encompasses approximately 55 square miles (140 km 2) serving the Boroughs of Beallsville, Centerville, Deemston, Marianna, East Bethlehem Township, and West Bethlehem Township. The district operates three schools. According to 2000 federal census data, it serves a resident population of 9,292.
Centerville Borough is located just north of the southern terminal moraine for glaciation in northwestern Pennsylvania. The borough is drained by Oil Creek, a southward-flowing tributary of the Allegheny River, which runs through the western side of town and East Branch Oil Creek, which enters the borough from the northeast and joins the main creek west of the borough center.
The current high school building was built in 1961 with additions added in 1967,1976 and 1981. In 1994, the building was remodeled and up-dated. During the 2000–2002 school year, four new science rooms, a wellness center, and air conditioning were added.
