Lake Wisconsin is a census-designated place (CDP) in Columbia and Sauk counties, in the towns of Lodi and Merrimac, in Wisconsin, United States. The population was 4,616 at the 2020 census, up from 4,189 at the 2010 census.
Lodi: 2-story brick and brownstone commercial building with Richardsonian Romanesque touches, built in 1895 and added to in 1901, 1919 and 1930. Job Mills was a local farmer, businessman and postmaster. Initially, E.J. Cain's jewelry store and the Lodi Post Office occupied the first floor and apartments the second. [62] 38
The White Pines State Park Lodge and Cabins are located in rural Ogle County, Illinois near the village of Mount Morris. They were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The Cabins are one of two Historic Places found in or near Mount Morris, the other is the Samuel M. Hitt House .
[2] [3] Mirror Lake State Park was established nearby in 1962, and in 1966 the land on which the cottage stood was acquired by the state and added to the park. Away from the developed areas of the park, however, the cottage was neglected and fell into disrepair.
Today it is home to the Wisconsin wine appellation of the Lake Wisconsin AVA. [1] It was formed by the construction of the Prairie du Sac Dam, which was begun in 1911 and completed in 1914. It is part of the Wisconsin River system of reservoirs. The lake has a maximum depth of 24 feet (7.3 m). [2] It has an area of 7,197 acres (29.13 km 2). [2]
The district is made up of a residential neighborhood including the 1855 Italianate McCloud house, [2] the 1874 Greek Revival Hinds house, [3] the commercial vernacular Clements House hotel, [4] the 1897 Queen Anne Seville house, [5] and the 1915 Posta bungalow. [6] [7] It was added to the State and the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 2.92. In the town, the population was spread out, with 24.6% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 27.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 106.3 males.
