County executives head nine of the 23 counties of Maryland: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Cecil, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's, and Wicomico.All of these counties have chartered governments and county councils; while Dorchester and Talbot counties also have chartered governments, they do not have executives.
The district had 102,375 registered voters as of October 17, 2020, of whom 23,301 (22.8%) were registered as unaffiliated, 46,243 (45.2%) were registered as Republicans, 31,657 (30.9%) were registered as Democrats, and 455 (0.4%) were registered to other parties.
Aaron M. Kaufman (born February 15, 1987) [1] is an American politician and disability rights advocate. [2] A member of the Democratic Party, he is a member of the Maryland House of Delegates for District 18 in Montgomery County. Kaufman has cerebral palsy, and is the first member of the Maryland General Assembly with a physical disability. [3]
The incumbent county executive is Democrat Kathy Klausmeier, who was appointed county executive by the Baltimore County Council after Johnny Olszewski was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in Maryland's 2nd congressional district in 2024. She is not running for election to a full four-year term. [11]
