Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, released internationally as Straight From the Heart, [2] is a 1999 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama musical film directed, co-written, and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film stars Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Aishwarya Rai.
In 1999, Khan starred in three commercially successful productions: the comedy Biwi No.1, the romantic drama Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and the family drama Hum Saath-Saath Hain. [13] After another string of flops, he earned critical acclaim for playing a scorned lover in the romance Tere Naam and a brief role in the family drama Baghban (both 2003).

Albela Sajan Aayo Re is a classical Hindi song popularized by Ustad Sultan Khan of Indore gharana in the early 1970s. [1] Ustad Sultan Khan sang it in the Bollywood movie, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam along with Shankar Mahadevan and Kavitha Krishnamurthy, [2] picturised on Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan.
The songs "Pal" and "Yaaron" from the album became popular, and are used in school graduations. The album turned out to be his career breakthrough. The song "Tadap Tadap Ke" from the 1999 film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, earned him his first Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer nomination.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas and Black earned him multiple Best Film and Best Director awards at Filmfare, the latter also received additional Best Film (Critics) award. In 2006, Bhansali participated as a judge on reality TV show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa alongside Farah Khan and Shilpa Shetty .
Aniket Joshi of Planet Bollywood gave the album nine-and-a-half stars and stated that it is "such a [rare] album" which has "perfectly-sung songs". The critic felt that the song "Dola Re Dola" is "a highlight on screen" as the "singing was very good", and compared it to the song "Nimbooda Nimbooda" from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. [20]
