Clodualdo del Mundo was born in Santa Cruz, Manila.His parents were Mariano del Mundo, a sculptor from Bocaue, Bulacan; and Remigia Legaspi of Sampaloc, Manila. A graduate of Mapa High School, del Mundo obtained a degree in Associate in Arts from Far Eastern College (now Far Eastern University), and a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the National Teachers' College.
Ang Lihim ng Isang Pulo: Nobelang Tagalog (kasaysayang ukol sa mga unang panahon) [1] [2] – "The Secret of an Island: A Tagalog Novel (history about times past)" – is a Tagalog-language novel written in 1926 by Filipino novelist Faustino S. Aguilar. The 353-page novel was first published by Sampaguita Press in the Philippines in 1927. [3]
As a novelist, he authored the Tagalog-language novels Busabos ng Palad (Pauper of Fate) in 1909, Sa Ngalan ng Diyos (In the Name of God) in 1911, Ang Lihim ng Isang Pulo (The Secret of an Island) in 1926, Ang Patawad ng Patay (The Pardon of the Dead) in 1951, Ang Kaligtasan (The Salvation) in 1951, and Pinaglahuan (Place of Disappearance) in 1906 (published in 1907).
Although De Jesus was acclaimed 'Hari ng Balagtasan', Collantes also gained national fame as a poet. His most memorable work is 'Ang Lumang Simbahan', which was so popular that he expanded it into a novel that was later turned into a movie starring Mary Walter. The movie is now acclaimed as a classic in Philippine cinema.
