Tanzania is burdened with a long list of structural issues stunting its capabilities in the food security arena. A lack of financial and operational means – limited access to capital, underdeveloped business skills, low levels of capacity – coupled with a weak infrastructure lead to an absence of incentives when it comes to further developing their agriculture sector.
The Global Food Security Index consists of a set of indices from 113 countries. It measures food security across most of the countries of the world. [ 1 ] It was first published in 2012, and is managed and updated annually by The Economist 's intelligence unit.

The first law in Tanzania that related to workers health and safety was the Factories Ordinances Cap. 297 of 1950, that provided for occupational health and safety standards for workers in factories. As most of Tanzania's workforce was employed in the agricultural sector, this ordinance left most workers in the country unprotected. [1]
As a whole and on average, Tanzania has extensive water resources. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in 2008 Tanzania had 96.27 km 3 of renewable water resources per year (by comparison, estimated world water resources are in the order of 43,750 km 3 /year). This corresponds to 2,266 m 3 per person and year. [21]
In 2015/2016, the District cultivated 48,197.1 ha of food crops and 27,782.5 ha of cash crops. In 2015/16, maize production was 81,112.8 tonnes, equivalent to 15 to 20 bags per acre. [ 18 ] Farmers in the district are advanced in agriculture since 65% of them utilize hybrid seeds, artificial fertilizers , and tractors in farm preparation.
