Costco has a nice selection of premium frames (if that interests you), but Target optical is owned by Luxottica Group, so you'll probably get similar access to designer brands there as well. Finally, say you have a low bridge, you like a plastic frame, but it slides down your nose. A smaller independent may offer to add adjustable nose pads for you, a Walmart, Costco probably unlikely.
