Rosemary's Baby (1968) It is now the appropriate time of year to discuss Rosemary's Baby. Roman Polanski was extraordinary faithful to Ira Levin's novel. Mia Farrow leads an eerie ensemble; John Cassavetes, Ruth Gordon, Sidney Blackmer, Maurice Evans, Angela Dorian, Charles Grodin, Elishia Cook Jr., Patsy Kelly, Phil Leeds, Hope Summers, and ...

February 19, 2024 7:47 PM. On DL all famous men are gay, especially if they have played a gay man on film. No one on this thread has any first hand knowledge. I know of 2 first hand: John Travolta and Timothy Dalton. I’ve heard lots of second hand stuff over the decades- who knows.

  4. The films of John Cassavetes - the Data Lounge

Overrated, or not? I think Gena Rowlands's presence in many of them is what made them strong (A Woman Under the Influence, Opening Night)—she carried those films on her back. I've always sort of thought that Cassavetes' style was basically melodrama at its core, dressed up in a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants grit.

  5. Favorite film directed by John Cassavetes - the Data Lounge

    www.datalounge.com/thread/26301170-favorite-film-directed-by-john-cassavetes

It's Cassavetes most mainstream film, so I am ashamed. The entire thing just WORKS. It has everything. And Gena Rowlands rules. And so beautiful. She was around 50, then? My second favorite actress after Ms. Lange.

London's 35-year acting career began in film in 1944, and included roles as the female lead in numerous Westerns, co-starring with Rock Hudson in The Fat Man (1951), with Robert Taylor and John Cassavetes in Saddle the Wind (1958), with Gary Cooper in Man of the West (1958), and with Robert Mitchum in The Wonderful Country (1959).

  7. Gloria with Gena Rowlands - the Data Lounge

Struck by the quality of his fabrics and his print patterns, Cassavetes decided on the boutique collection of Emanuel Ungaro, a disciple of Balenciaga, and recognized as one of the last of the "grand couturiers". Ungaro was also a man with a keen sense of humor. His designs, as worn by lead actress Gena Rowlands in Gloria (1980) are Ungaro a la ...

August 30, 2024 8:52 PM. Her son Nick paid tribute to Robert Forrest (Gena’s second husband): he passed away just two weeks after Gena! Years ago, we visited Westwood Memorial Park, where Cassavetes is buried (alongside his mother-in-law Lady Rowlands).

  9. Apartment 7A streaming — poorly reviewed - the Data Lounge

    www.datalounge.com/thread/34827304-apartment-7a-streaming-—-poorly-reviewed-

Apartment 7A streaming — poorly reviewed. The main criticism is, it’s just a rehash of RB without the sense of shock. I would watch it anyway because I love Julia Garner and horror, and am a RB superfan, but I don’t have paramount plus, and it’s an eye watering $20 on Amazon. Nope. I’ll wait til it’s $7.

  10. Is Brian de Palma really a great director? - the Data Lounge

August 14, 2024 9:30 PM. I'm an unashamed de Palma fan. CARRIE, DRESSED TO KILL, BLOW OUT, THE UNTOUCHABLES and CASUALTIES OF WAR are wonderful movies that I love without reservation, and I find a lot to enjoy in SISTERS, OBSESSION, THE FURY, RAISING CAIN, CARLITO'S WAY and FEMME FATALE.

A lot of popular teen/young adult actors were actually around at the time (Diane Lane, Jodie Foster, Jennifer Jason Leigh, John Cusack, Sean Penn, Matt Dillon, Nicolas Cage etc.) not part of it because they actually possessed baseline talent or starred in quality movies.
