What I've attempted to do is write Death Note purely from L's perspective, based on source-inferred speculation, to explain all of his profound reasoning. If you enjoyed it, please do let me know what you think :) I might do something similar in the future for Light's character, Near vs Mello, and the Wammy's House. Enjoy!
L probably views the "friendship" as a sort of rivalry, as the Kira case is the most challenging one he's come across. It gave L, who sees the world falling down more and more every day, something to do. A productive distraction that L was grateful for.

Considering the fact that it's a value that measures one's reasoning abilities, I would say very high. I don't know enough about the numbers to give you my thoughts, but I can tell you that I would think Near and to be the highest of the four, with Light being third
Episode 25 is forever ingrained into the minds of Light and L fans alike. It’s the highest point of the battle of wits between Light Yagami and L. Lawliet. Light has regained his memories of the Death Note, while L has gained knowledge of the notebook and its power, and is closer than ever to finding out the truth behind Kira’s identity.

The name "L Lawliet" was revealed in the form of an image, where L is shown with "L Lawliet" over his head, stylized in a similar manner to the shinigami eyes. So yes, I think we can assume that's his complete name. I don't know what kind of horrible parent does that to their kid, but it was their decision, not mine.
L decided to test the Note, putting Misa's life at risk, and so Rem sacrificed herself to save Misa by killing L and Watari, simultaneously eliminating Light's two biggest threats at that time, as well as giving Light access to a third Death Note. I think what happened to L was very satisfying. It wasn't fair, because it didn't have to be.
So, what is L's nationality actually meant to be? He resided in English for five years and, according to his Wikipedia page, it's said in Death Note 13: How to Read that writer Tsugumi Ohba "included ideas in his thumbnails", such as "he's English" (although Ohba apparently later says that he thinks of L's ethnicity as "a quarter Japanese, a quarter English, a quarter Russian, a quarter French ...
L's Monster Speech as I see it. Death Note still remains one of my favourite topics to discuss about, especially L's Monster Speech. So, I am going to write all of my thoughts down on the monster speech and Death Note, in general.
