It is his feature film directorial debut. The film won the NETPAC Award for the best Asian feature film at the 52nd International Film Festival Rotterdam.

Alborada (Sinhala: ඇල්බොරාදා) is a 2021 Sri Lankan multilingual biographical romantic film directed by Asoka Handagama and produced by H.D. Premasiri for Sarasavi Cineroo. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The film is based on the fictionalized sex life of Chile 's Nobel Laureate Pablo Neruda from 1929 to 1931 in Sri Lanka. [ 3 ]
Sinhabahu (Sinhala: සිංහබාහු), is a 2024 Sri Lankan Sinhalese historical thriller film directed by Somaratne Dissanayake and co-produced by Gamini Wickramasinghe and Renuka Balasuriya. [1] The film is based on the legend in the Mahāvaṃsa where playwright Ediriweera Sarachchandra produced a stage drama under the same title.
The film was later released on 16 June 2022 in 70 cinemas where the premiere was held at 6 p.m. at the Liberty Cinema. [10] This is lead actor Ranjan Ramanayake's last film before he was imprisoned.
