KIMBO met our checklist and then some with the option of a cast iron wood fireplace, removable at a campsite, office, and a stealth camper when needed. Below is a list that helped my decision and may help you decide if a KIMBO is right for you.
KIMBO Camper What’s up guys, I’m curious if anyone has experienced separation of the felt from the R5 insulation on any of the indoor panels? This showed up roughly a week ago and it’s grown worse.
Hi Kimbo Family, Last weekend I built a sturdy Kimbo removal system. Bascially 4"x12"x8' boards sealed up with some long last deck sealer (Kimbo Skis). This makes the camper a lot more steady when pulling it off my truck. The more the camper jacks extend the less stable and my truck sits way too high.
I wanted to ask those who own a Kimbo about their experience with unloading it off the truck. My truck sits high and then I have a drawer system underneath the Kimbo, so when I pull it off the truck I have to put 6 inch blocks under the camper jacks and then extend the camper jacks all the way out. The camper seems a bit unstable at this height.
The Kimbo starts out around 900-950 lbs and goes up depending on the options that are purchased. There is some discussion on this earlier in the thread that might also add some additional detail. Profloundering , Mar 22, 2021
I've been having airbag issues and wanted to check with this community to see if others have had a similar experience. I assume like many of you, when I get my camper I took the Kimbo teams recommendation and had rear airbags installed and upgraded to e-rated tires. I went with Air Lift, had a pro install them, and they were working great.
I know a Canopy Camper would be half the weight, but I like the security of a completely solid shell. That and the Kimbo just looks so cool! Unresolved Taco Issues , Dec 26, 2020
The crew at Kimbo made a framework that was 2 qty 2x6s high so that the Kimbo wouldn't impact the cab shark fin. I have lowered that to one 2 x 6 and it still has good clearance. EDIT 2 x 6 laying flat so about 1 and 5/8 inches.
Bascially 4"x12"x8' boards sealed up with some long last deck sealer (Kimbo Skis). This makes the camper a lot more steady when pulling it off my truck. The more the camper jacks extend the less stable and my truck sits way too high. I also had the Kimbo Skis extend past the front jacks to help with the nose heavy aspect.
Personal Preference was a big part. I am NOT a fan of the look of the Kimbo. Was also cheaper to go Scout. I don't doubt the Kimbo is built better, I knew I was buying something with the normal RV quality. Still never been in a Kimbo, but from pictures it definitely doesn't seem to have the roomy feel that the Scout does.
