Eureka Art Glass survived by adding glassware to its line of products, which was a change advocated by Blenko's son William Henry Blenko (1897–1969). The company hired two Swedish-American glassmakers to train its workforce to make glassware, and its products were originally sold by a firm known for importing Italian luxury goods. [ 4 ]
The Blenko Glass Company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2011. [5] In August 2012 Blenko Vice President Katie Trippe announced that Blenko Glass was reopening after filing for bankruptcy protection. I did some original research in 2024-this is why it is not mentioned in the article-by contacting Blenko. Their response was that they are not producing flat glass because of the overwhelming orders for tableware. They currently cannot produce both at once. They hope to return to producing flat glass in the future, but no plans have been made.
