Dave Edwards (January 11, 1941 – August 12, 2000) was an American big band-style musician who most notably was the lead alto saxophonist and multireedist for the long running weekly television series, The Lawrence Welk Show from 1968 through 1979.
Edwards was born on December 14, 1939, in Abbeville, Alabama, to Warren and Millie Edwards. [1] Edwards attended Abbeville High School. He was a two-way tackle and contributed to the team having a 9–1 record, while outscoring their opponents 281–19 in 1957. He received All-state honors as a senior. [2] He also played basketball.
