Keweenaw Heritage Center in Ste. Anne's. The Keweenaw Heritage Center is located in the old Ste. Anne's church at 25880 Red Jacket Road in Calumet, Michigan, within the park's Calumet Unit. [4] Ste. Anne's was built in 1900 as a French Canadian Roman Catholic church and deconscrated in 1966. [26]

[10] In the 2000s and 2010s, Michigan City has been working on revitalizing much of its north end, which contains the oldest portions of the city.
The Keweenaw Peninsula (/ ˈ k iː w ə n ɔː /, KEE-wə-naw) is a peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. Part of the greater landmass of the Upper Peninsula , the Keweenaw Peninsula projects about 65 miles (105 km) northeasterly into Lake Superior , forming Keweenaw Bay .
Copper was discovered in the Keweenaw in the 1830s; soon after, the US government built Fort Wilkins near Copper Harbor to maintain order in the area. Keweenaw County was split off from Houghton County in 1861, with the county seat in Eagle River. [2] The early government and commercial buildings in Eagle River are now a Historic District.
