The company was formed in 1980 as NVHomes, Inc. (formerly North Virginia Homes Inc.) by Dwight Schar. [1] In 1986, the company acquired Ryan Homes, founded in 1948 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to provide housing in the expanding post-war economy. [5] In April 1992, as a result of the early 1990s recession, the company filed bankruptcy. [6]

In 1998, it sold 9,430 houses in 252 communities in 18 states, at an average price of $182,000. That year it acquired Regency Communities of Tampa and exited the markets of Portland, Oregon, Salt Lake City, and the Delaware Valley. [5] In July 2012, the company acquired the Charlotte and Raleigh operations and assets of Timberstone Homes. [6]
Seven Oaks is an unincorporated community in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States.Though it is included in the census-designated place of Odenton, it lies across from Fort Meade and the NSA, and is more a part of those communities [citation needed].
