Browse to the picture you want to insert. Click the picture's icon to select it (but don't double-click) Click the triangle to the right of the Insert button and choose either Link to File or Insert and Link. See below for more on that. I would suggest Insert and Link.

Hi, if entered a hyperlink in cell A1, copied cell A1 with Ctrl+C, selected another cell and pasted with Ctrl+V, the destination cell gets all of the source cell included the hyperlink. If you use shortcut Ctrl+C twice the clipboard opens (depending on your clipboard option settings) and holds the copy.
First, I copy the whole range and Paste Values into the destination (the empty cells already have the desired formatting applied to them), then I go to Word and do a normal Paste. Then, on each link in Word, I right-click and choose "Copy Hyperlink", go to the already-pasted values in Excel and press CTRL-K, CTRL-V.

Right-click on the embedded Excel workbook, and choose Open. Then, make changes, then use File > Update before closing Excel and returning to the Word document. Be sure to include the version number and OS version when asking your question.
Almost the same issue im experiencing. Luckily most of my slides were still linked to the excel file. Though if i will be inserting a new powerpoint slide and pasting it as MS Excel object with a link , it does not work anymore. Have tried to save both files (excel and ppt) to my local drive but the issue is still there. Hope someone can assist us.

Paste Link is missing in the Table. Same cell is available to paste link outside Table (far right icon) I did a search here on SuperUser but was unable to find a direct match. This question is similar but is more about linking to an entire Table and not pasting into a Table. what i did after nearly punching myself in the face in frustration ...
The problem is only with PPT. I tried Paste (Home menu) > Paste Special> Paste link > Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object + Display as Icon checkbox selected. It inserts a excel icon in PPT slide and when I click the icon, it navigates to respective Excel sheet automatically. But I want to display the actual excel table data and not just the icon.
