I currently use Windows Mail and Calendar to check my AOL e-mail, but I got a notice that Windows Mail is being phased out at the end of 2024, and Outlook is replacing it. So I want to try and sync my AOL account with the new Outlook. I've downloaded it, but it asks for a third-party app password.

I've never log into AOL, so I really didn't think anything was changed. In the AOL account My inbox folder was changed to OLD mail and NEW mail not INBOX. I went to options then changed in the Email settings to unified inbox style. Also. my AOL mail folders included several inbox's. I deleted all the EMPTY inbox folders then logged out.
I have recently been switched over to Microsoft Edge and now when I open my AOL connection, my email will not open.
As Yahoo and AOL are the same company for mail purposes, I think partially it's an AOL/Yahoo issue and partially an Outlook issue. No solution occurs to me yet. Have tried adding the Yahoo account and that works by providing the password, but of course doesn't have any of the other emails (it was basically an account to provide for junk purposes).
solved see comment below. this is a long running problem of syncing aol email with microsoft email app. all was working fine until a little exclamation mark appeared next to one of my 5 aol accounts on microsoft email app. i did nothing to allow this to happen, it was random

I do not have a AOL email address, and the “To” filed of the email I receive in my gmail inbox is to the AOL account…..this is not span to my gmail account, but to an AOL account I do not have. How does an email that is addressed to myname@aol.com get into my gmail account?
