The California State Military Museum was the official military museum of the State of California. It was located in the Old Sacramento State Historic Park at 1119 Second Street. A new site is under development and the museum is expected to reopen by 2024. The museum begun in 1991 during the administration of California governor Pete Wilson.

California Army National Guard units have been active in the Middle East since the U.S. military increased its involvement in the region. In September 2017, about 300 Army National Guard soldiers of the 184th Infantry Battalion deployed to Jordan to take part in Operation Spartan Shield.

The 40th Infantry Division ("Sunburst Division") [2] is a modular division of the California Army National Guard.Following the Army's modularization in the mid-2000s, the division has become a modular unit consisting of three brigade combat teams, with National Guardsmen from throughout the Pacific and Western United States and Oceania.
The California Museum is a member of the American Alliance of Museums, California Association of Museums and Sacramento Association of Museums. [1] It is Sacramento's only museum to win the American Alliance of Museum's Excellence in Exhibition Award (2013). [2]
