Thank you for the great article. I have hand embroidered 30 pre-pirnted panels for my first quilt. The quilting pattern is also pre-printed on the panels. I plan on hand quilting this queen size quilt and need help choosing the right batting. Here is what I know: I need white batting. If I use cotton look out for seeds. I don’t want poly batting.
Well, according to this quilt sizes chart, a standard king quilt is about 110″ x 108″. The Triangle Jitters Throw is pretty close to being square in size, and that design is 9 x 10 HSTs. I would probably make the finished HSTs 12″ so that your finished quilt will be 108″ x 120″.
Thank you, very informative. I can’t use sharps, just too small for my arthritic hands . I have used embroidery needles for years, I love them to quilt! However, I designed and stitched my Sashiko quilt and used Tulip large eye Hiroshimo needles, nice and long! Very sharp, I stitched that quilt for 18 months and not one needle broke!

The smallest size you can get is a small, so unless you embark on making your own, that’s the best you can get. My wedding ring size is 4.5 and I have found the size small to work pretty well. Leather does stretch, however, so you may need to replace it more frequently over time.
