Johnny Lee Jackson (August 28, 1969 – October 3, 2008) [1] was a Mexican-American multi-platinum songwriter, music producer and rapper best known for his early career with Death Row Records, and for his work with 2Pac on Me Against the World and All Eyez on Me, as well as 2Pac's posthumously released albums. 2Pac wrote the lyrics to the song while in prison for sexual abuse charges in 1995. [1] After being released from prison, he recorded the song at Can-Am Studios in Tarzana, Los Angeles on October 13, 1995. [2] [3] In a 2015 interview with XXL, Kurupt stated that 2Pac recorded the first verse in 45 minutes.
The song was included on numerous 2Pac compilations, including his Greatest Hits and Best of: Thug album. The song was featured in the first episode of the TV series Gang Related. The song was played on Shakur's biopic, All Eyez On Me (2017) with 2Pac and Snoop in the studio recording the song.
