Rules of Survival was a free-to-play [1] multiplayer online battle royale game developed and published by NetEase Games. It was first released via beta access in November 2017 and released globally on May 31, 2018. By October 2018, the game had reached 230 million players worldwide. [2] On May 30, 2018, the game was released on Steam.
The game tracks five main elements of survival: health, hunger, thirst, cold and stress. While travelling around the game, players find various medical supplies, food and water, which can be used to restore the according element. Players can also find different crafting ingredients and blueprints, which allow them to create new items and equipment.
The game ends when only one player is left with any cards. That player is the loser. In a gambling game, the loser pays each other player a fixed stake; in a drinking game, they buy the next round; in a friendly game, they shuffle the deck for the next match.
