Music became interesting in the 70's, with lyrics about war, peace, love, and drugs. Who would have ever thought that a broken electric guitar would make 70's music history in sound innovation. Music became portable, with the birth of the 8-track. Production became more sophisticated, Mono was out and stereo was IN.
However most of the music I do listen to centers around the 1970's rock era including Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, Yes, and many others. I will frequent around all the areas of the forum, but mostly stick around the 70's era of classic rock.
Watching Hendrix at the Atlanta 'pop' festival in July 1970 several months ago and they implied on the dvd that Atlanta was the end of the 'hippy free love era' in the USA. Another rock concert was held at Randall's Island in New York in June 1970. Quite a few rock festivals took place in the US in 1969. Aug 11, 2020.
UK. I'm not sure just how many people in this forum are Brits or have an interest in this extremely important radio programme, but I have spent a few days putting together a complete list for the 1970s. You can access it on my website, Gigs'n'Stuff. Lots to see, many bands both big and small, and some sadly long-forgotten.

Two Youth Club memories here that typify the early 1970s (for me) the wealth of different genres in the charts is a clear indication of how music stood in this decade T. Rex - Ride A White Swan. McGuinness Flint - When I'm Dead And Gone.
3,309. Reaction score. 101. Location. Down South Jukin'. These are some of my favorite bands, and I personally don't look at them as "2nd Tier". But let's face it, none of these bands made it to the level as, say ..Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones,Aerosmith, Kiss etc etc... So vote for 5 top 2nd tier bands.
Oh no!!. I am sad to hear about Manny's passing. Possibly unfairly overlooked to some extent in his own time back in the 1970s (and early 1980s) probably because heavy rock during that decade the 1970s was dominated by many great electric guitar players but I liked all Manny's work on the Nazareth albums from the 1970s and into the first half of the 1980s.
