The Nathaniel Russell House is an architecturally distinguished, early 19th-century house at 51 Meeting Street in Charleston, South Carolina, United States. The lounge has a corner brick fireplace with a chrome hood and mirrored panels above the mantelpiece. The south wall has twin rows of vertical glass bricks and the east wall is rounded. A vertical row of glass bricks is located in the south wall of the informal dining room, which also has a servery to the L-shaped kitchen which has been refitted.
The interior is similarly notable as it features Horta's innovative open floor plan and use of natural light. Rooms in the town house were built around a central hall, which was fairly groundbreaking at the time. Materials used on the inside are purposefully visible and conform to the Art Nouveau style by being modelled after organic forms.
The loggia is asymmetrical, being located near the northwestern corner of the house, on the west side of the house's motor court. [ 274 ] [ 266 ] At the end of the loggia is an entrance vestibule measuring 3 by 8 feet (0.91 by 2.44 m) across, with cast-concrete floors, walls, ceilings, and a glass-and-wood chandelier. [ 252 ]
