Thokar Niaz Baig serves as the major point of entry into Lahore from the south/west. It serves as the junction between the M-2 motorway and N5 national highway (Multan Road) as well as the Lahore Ring Road. Thokar Niaz Baig is also the site of the Lahore Jinnah Bus Terminal. In October 2020 a metro station of the Orange Line opened here.
The M-2 starts to the west of Lahore, at the Thokar Niaz Baig junction of N-5 (National Highway No. 5). Once it crosses the Ravi River , it diverges from the N-5 (also known as GT or Grand Trunk Road) and heads west towards Sheikhupura .

Leaving Awan Road Station, the line continues to travel southwest along Multan Road until it reaches Wahdat Road Station, which lies 2.85 km to the southwest of Sabzazar Station. The line 5.2 kilometres along Multan and Raiwind Roads, with stops at Hanjarwal Station, Canal View, Thokar Niaz Baig, before terminating at Ali Town. [36]
