Palmwag is a veterinary control point, an oasis and a tourism concession area on communal land in northern Namibia. [1] It is located in the Kunene region on the Uniab River , in northwestern Damaraland , halfway between Swakopmund and the Etosha National Park .
The Uniab River is an ephemeral river on Namibia 's Skeleton Coast, located between Torra Bay and Terrace Bay.Its origin is in the Grootberg Mountains near Palmwag.Inflows of the Uniab are Kaikams, Kawakab, Aub, Urenindes and Obob.
It is named for Daniel Thomas du Plessis Viljoen (1892–1972), the South African administrator of South West Africa from 1953 to 1963. The park covers an area of 40 square kilometers, and provides a home to many plant and animal species. [2] The park contains a lodge with swimming pool and restaurant as well as a camping site.
