The 2024 Waterford Senior Hurling Championship was the 124th staging of the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Waterford County Board in 1897. The draws for the group stage pairings was made on 29 January 2024. [1] The championship is scheduled to run from 19 July to September 2024.
The Waterford Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Waterford County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1897 for the top hurling teams in the county of Waterford in Ireland.
The Waterford county hurling team represents Waterford in hurling and is governed by Waterford GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship , the Munster Senior Hurling Championship and the National Hurling League .
At club level, Sheahan first played for Ballygunner at juvenile and underage levels, winning back-to-back Waterford MHC titles in 2017 and 2018. He eventually progressed to adult level and, after a year with the intermediate team, he won his first Waterford SHC medal in 2020. Patrick Curran (born 2 March 1996) is an Irish hurler who plays for Waterford Championship club Dungarvan and at inter-county level with the Waterford senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a full-forward.
O'Sullivan first played hurling at juvenile and underage levels with Ballygunner, winning a Waterford MHC medal in 1992. He was also a member of the extended panel of the club's senior team that also claimed the Waterford SHC title that year. [3] O'Sullivan won six Waterford SHC titles in total between 1992 and 2001.
