The centennial of the parish was celebrated August 15–17, 1920, with the parish congregation numbering about 3,000 at the time. [ 5 ] Following Mattingly as pastor was David Quailey, who expanded the high school program from three years to four, and oversaw the construction of a new high school building for the parish.
St. Paul's Church opened in 1923 on Franklin Avenue, it was built in the style of a Spanish mission. A school was opened in the 1930s. [5] In 1963, old St. Paul's Church was demolished and services were then held in the gymnasium/auditorium of St. Paul's School on Clinton Avenue. [6] [7] In 2007, St. Paul's merged with Assumption parish.
The monastery consists of the abbey church and an east and west wing. The west wing is the cloister which was dedicated in 1952. The abbey church and east wing of the monastery were dedicated in 1986 largely from the generosity of Benedictine High School alumnus Jim Trueman '53.
