broken42. • 11 yr. ago. Easiest blaster I've ever modded is the Longshot, it just takes a pair of needle nose pliers and some wire cutters to take the AR out. Of those that are currently available, take your pick because other than the Rough Cut they are all pretty easy to mod.

Its one of my favorite blasters.
Stryfe + Firefly mod. Rewired, new motors, double trigger return spring for faster follow up shots, 8.4v NiMH, and custom fore grip. Still going to touch up some points with silver paint to “battle wear” it before the matte clear coat. Been a fun project so far. 8 0.
The current readily available barrels for Nerf in the US are 17/32 brass (which sleeves into 9/16 brass to created sealed breeches), aluminum barrels from Captain Slug on Etsy, and aftermarket metal barrels from worker and monkeemods. You can also sometimes use 1/2" CPVC or 1/2" Sch. 80 (dark grey) PVC pipe. If you are going to a hardware store ...
Single shot blasters like the fire strike or nite finder are pretty easy to mod. Drill out the original barrel and fit some 17/32 inch brass tube, get a better fitting o ring, and add a stronger spring. There are plenty of guides to do this here and on YouTube.
Maverick - Stupidly easy to aquire, moderate to easy to mod. Used a few of them to practice modding with my son. Longshot - Moderate skill needed, I found it fairly easy following a couple mod guides. Still available off the shelf (z-strike version) in some areas.
The Retaliator is pretty easy to mod. Remove a few screws toward the rear, remove spring from the stock attachment point, slide new spring into place. No need to open the blaster fully, unless the replacement spring is too strong to catch. You can use Tek 6 springs to give a nice lil boost over the stock spring.
Try a flywheel powered blaster, that way he can just push the rev trigger instead of having to struggle with a springer. As for loading, most flywheel blasters come with a magazine, which is super easy to load. As for recommendations, the cs-10 Echo is a good one that is relatively light without the attachments.
Sort by: Nardia565. • 6 yr. ago. Firestrike and Nightfinder are great for the very first mod. Retaliator and Stryfe are good for a little bit more advanced mods. If you can't get a Stryfe for cheap then the Modulus ECS10 is a great option. Usually cheaper and easier to obtain than a Stryfe and is pretty much identical. 9.
Nerf firestrike elite. Super easy to prime and it hits 50fps all day. Check out the triad, its the same thing as a jolt but with more ammo capacity, and its very easy to prime and doesn't hit that hard. A jolt or triad would be good, pretty much any dart shooter under 10bucks should be fine.
