In December 1989, Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) announced plans for two new radio stations to launch in 1990, in honour of SBC's 10th anniversary and Singapore's 25th anniversary of independence; a Mandopop CHR station on 93.3 (which would serve as a Chinese counterpart to English CHR Perfect 10, which launched earlier that year), and an unnamed "MOR" station on 95.5.
