Tenaya Lake is an alpine lake in Yosemite National Park, located between Yosemite Valley and Tuolumne Meadows. The surface of Tenaya Lake has an elevation of 8,150 feet (2,484 m). [ 1 ] The lake basin was formed by glacial action, which left a backdrop of light granite rocks, whose beauty was known to the Native Americans.
The May Lake High Sierra Camp replaced an earlier camp at Tenaya Lake, and was established in July 1938 at a site selected by Donald Tresidder and Mary Curry Tresidder of the Yosemite Park and Curry Company. It is located at an elevation of 9,270 feet (2,830 m). The camp can accommodate 36 overnight guests.
Key attractions include the historic Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad and the modern Tenaya Lodge, showcasing its transition from a logging town to a tourist destination. [1] [2] After the creation of the Park Service, many separate hotel owners held separate concession contracts. The Yosemite Park Company had built the Yosemite Lodge and Yosemite Village had its own group of merchants.
The natural and cultural history of Yosemite Valley is presented at the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center, the adjoining Yosemite Museum, and the Nature Center at Happy Isles. The parks' two National Historic Landmarks are the Sierra Club 's LeConte Memorial Lodge (Yosemite's first public visitor center), and the Ahwahnee Hotel.

Mount Watkins is located in Yosemite National Park, 2.72 miles (4.37 km) north of Half Dome, and 1.86 miles (3 km) northwest of Clouds Rest. [1] Precipitation runoff from this mountain drains into Tenaya Creek which is a tributary of the Merced River.
