Church of the Ascension is an Episcopal church in Clearwater, Florida. Its name comes from the words of one of the founders, "It was a miracle the way our church did ascend from our prayers". The church is located in the Harbor Oaks Residential District and is considered by many locally to be an important historic site.
In 1905, Morton F. Plant built a second home in the then-small town of Clearwater, near the Belleview Biltmore hotel established by his father. He maintained a mansion in New York City at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street. In 1912, while on vacation, Plant's son was injured in a car accident and required medical attention.
