I've got a Clown, Assasi, Sargassum and Blueline along with 10 other fish in my reef with all kinds of corals and have zero issues with any of them. My tank is a mixed reef with all types of corals with a majority of them being acros. The Sargassum has been in my current tank ...
The message seems to be proceed at your own risk. I've had Undulate, HumuHumu, Clown and a Rectangulated Trigger. They all were active, inquisitive, beautiful, and easily the most entertaining fish I've kept. The only butt in the bunch was the Undulated and the mist mischievous was the Humu Humu. None were at all boring.
If you have a standard 4 foot 120 gallon your options are very limited. Clown triggers get big as well. LiveAquaria recommends a 300 gallon tank with a potential max size of 20"! With that size tank I wouldn't recommend a clown trigger at all. When they are cramped like that they can get really aggressive.
Aquascaper said: Clown triggers can be a reef trigger if you are willing to : !. give up inverts. 2. no clams. 3. get'em small and let'em grow. "reef safe triggers" in order of my suggestion best reef- less reef. Crosshatch. Pink tail. Sargassum.

He doesn't care about small fish, but any large fish additions is a big no no. With an acclimation box it is possible to add fish.
I don't believe he has killed a fish, he has nipped at some from time to time. Same with the harlequin tusk, not a bad temperament. I have a clown trigger, purple tang, 2 scribble rabbit fish, 1 baby blonde naso, and a small ocellaris clown. Both the harlequin tusk and clown trigger eat snails, crabs, shrimp, and starfish.

Your worries w/a clown trigger are going to be centered more around other inverts (urchins, shrimp, crabs, prob clams) and of course other fish...both the ability to prey on smaller, slower fish and then the territoriality w/others. As far as coral...if you don’t starve it, there’s no reason for it to give corals a look.
The most significant sign is the amount of slime on its body. The thick mucus on its body is a second sign which is noticeable on the fish and in the case of yours makes the color appear flushed. This mucus generally starts at the facial area as well as gills and spreads across the body producing lesions as it progresses often confused with ich ...
We added a Orange Spot Goby and our loved little guy, the Clown Trigger we named Jr., after out first Clown named Bubba, that we had in the 90's. He grew to over 12" but once he had glaucoma, he quit eating and passed away. For Patty, I even had a T-shirt with a photo of him and his name.
