Merthyr Tydfil Football Club was a Welsh football club based at the Penydarren Park ground in Merthyr Tydfil. In 2010 the club was liquidated and reformed under the name Merthyr Town , which was accepted into Division One of the Western League .
The football club was originally founded as 'Merthyr Town' in 1908 and played in the Football League from 1920 to 1930, but the club folded in 1934 and were replaced by newly formed Merthyr Tydfil F.C. in 1945, until 2010 when the club liquidated and re-established back to its original 'Merthyr Town' name.
Penydarren Park is a sports stadium in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, that is the present home ground of Merthyr Town Historically used for varying sports, it has been the home to two professional football teams, Merthyr Town and Merthyr Tydfil F.C. The stadium is one of two in Merthyr Tydfil, along with The Wern, home of Merthyr RFC.
