Camberwell College of Arts is a constituent college of the University of the Arts London, a public art and design university in London, England.The college offers further and higher education programmes, including postgraduate and PhD awards.
Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts was established by the Technical Education Board of the London County Council on 10 January 1898, in a building beside the South London Gallery, with the financial support of John Passmore Edwards and following advocacy by Edward Burne-Jones, Lord Leighton, Walter Crane and G. F. Watts.
Theodore R P Mendez (1934–1997) was an English abstract artist who taught at Camberwell College of Arts in London for over thirty years. After attending Strand School, he entered Camberwell College of Arts in 1950 as a student, where his contemporaries included Terry Frost, Howard Hodgkin, Euan Uglow, Roy Turner Durrant, Bernard Dunstan and Gillian Ayres.

The South London Gallery, founded 1891, is a public-funded gallery of contemporary art in Camberwell, London. Until 1992, it was known as the South London Art Gallery, and nowadays the acronym SLG is often used. [1] Margot Heller became its director in 2001.
Fortnum studied English at Corpus Christi College in Oxford before gaining an MFA at Newcastle University. In 2009, she became reader and pathway leader of fine art (visual art) at Camberwell College of Arts, one of London's leading art-education institutions. She was professor of fine art at Middlesex University, London.
