Marine Court is a Grade II listed [1] Streamline Moderne apartment block on the seafront of St Leonards-on-Sea, [2] part of the town and borough of Hastings in East Sussex, England. The block was built between 1936 and 1938 and was modelled on the recently launched Cunard ocean liner Queen Mary .
This was close to the square of that name, an early Victorian-era set piece (started in the early 1850s), which helped to push St Leonards-on-Sea's boundaries closer to those of Hastings. [12] St Leonard's Church, the parish church, was in the western part of the resort, on the seafront road called Marina. [12]
The hotel has been a member of Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, since 2019. [ 3 ] Originally the home of the Hayes family, the mansion is regarded as one of the best examples of late 19th-century Mission Revival architecture in the Santa Clara Valley . [ 4 ]
The building is part of the St Leonards West Conservation Area, [21] one of 18 conservation areas in the borough of Hastings. [22] The central seafront of St Leonards-on-Sea is dominated by tall Regency-style terraces built between the early 1830s and the mid-1850s, all designed by James Burton.
Raji's was a rock and roll nightclub in central Hollywood, open in the 1980s and early 1990s. [1] It was located in the Hastings Hotel building, 6160 Hollywood Blvd. The space had previously been occupied by a Greek restaurant called The King's Palace.
