Harbor Freight Tools
OTC Tools (originally Owatonna Tool Company) is a tool and equipment manufacturer. It was founded in Owatonna, Minnesota, by Godfrey Kaplan, who operated a small machine shop there. Kaplan's son Rueben, invented the "Grip-O-Matic" universal gear puller and received his first patent. [1] The tool remains virtually unchanged to this day.
Stanley ceased production of the Odd Jobs in 1935, the Garrett Wade tool company revived the tool in 1996, and currently produces Odd Jobs according to the original Stanley design, in two different sizes. [7] It was also available from Harbor Freight and Rockler. Woodpeckers has produced it as a one time tool twice now. [8]

In 1926, Plumb objected to an attempt by the similarly named Plomb Tool Company to register its name as a trademark. The companies negotiated an agreement, but in 1946, Plumb sued for trademark infringement because Plomb had violated the terms of this agreement. [1] The Plomb company began selling tools under the Proto name instead. [4]
