John Norman's Gorean Saga is a long-running series of adventure science fantasy novels, starting in December 1966 with Tarnsman of Gor. The series was put on hold after its twenty-fifth installment, Magicians of Gor , in 1988, when DAW refused to publish its successor, Witness of Gor .
John Norman's coat of arms appear illustrated in the portrait (pictured right) painted by Roger Leigh who lived around 1450. While not officially connected to John Norman's work, Fencer of Minerva is a Japanese animated series containing many of the elements and ideas discussed in Gorean philosophy. Norman began playing hockey in local club Danderyds SK. He is the oldest of five brothers. [1] He played Stocksund's under-18 team until the 2007–08 season when he moved to Djurgården. He also participated in TV-pucken the same season. Norman's team Stockholm/Vit reached the final which ended with a 2–1 defeat to Småland. [2]
John was born about 1483 to John and Agnes Norman. His father had moved to York from New Malton and was a sheriff of the city of York. By virtue of his father being a freeman, John also became a freeman in 1503 having entered the Merchant's Guild in 1501. He was very active in the guild, holding the ranks of constable and master.
