Phi Theta Kappa isn't a scam, but your mileage may vary. So, I was browsing posts about PTK on here and it seems like there is a lot of misinformation. Full disclosure, my PTK membership led to a full ride scholarship so take that as you will. PTK and the international honor society people are different. PTK does have a GPA requirement.
Joining Phi Theta Kappa can be a valuable experience for many students, as it provides opportunities for academic recognition, leadership development, community service, and networking with other high-achieving students. Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society for two-year colleges, and membership is based on academic achievement and ...
Phi Theta Kappa is a legitimate and highly-respected honor society. It’s one of the highest honors a community college student can receive and is similar to Phi Beta Kappa at four-year colleges. Definitely not a scam- far from it! Most honor societies have initiation fees/dues; that is completely normal. And no, before you call me biased, I ...
wentwheree. • 1 yr. ago. If this is regarding emails from memberservices@honorsociety.org, it is scammy as scams can get. They claim to want to reward you for your "excellent achievements" in University and require only a $90 "initiation fee" to confirm your commitment but have provided no actual resources.

Im, sure there are a lot of scams out there but I feel like there is a benefit to some honor societies. I was apart of phi theta kappa and it directly led to me getting a $3,000 per year scholarship when I transferred to a 4 yr school. It only cost me $75 for entry.
PTK member here. It’s absolutely worth it. I paid the $85 registration fee, added the membership and documentation to my transfer application to my four year university where I now receive their PTK scholarship of $1,250 per semester. It is not a scam and it pays for itself and then some many times over. Reply.

A scam? I was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa at my local community college. I had to have a 3.8 to qualify. Many colleges offer transfer scholarships to Phi Theta Kappa members especially if your community college has an articulation agreement with them.<
I’m also a member of Phi Theta Kappa which so far seems to be more legit. NSLS is a real thing, you’re not being scammed or anything but it’s not worth the 90$ (I paid) to get into it. Once you get through the steps to reach your induction ceremony, it’s basically like you cease to exist. Even with a school that had an active chapter (I ...
Transfer Students UC Transfers. shapkaa April 19, 2014, 2:28am 1.
Hi, I am a student at a CCC with an offer to join Phi Theta Kappa. The cost to join is $80. I really do not have a lot of money (80 bucks is 2/3 of my money for food per month, to put it into perspective), so I want to know if it’s really worth it.
